The Beauty of the Fort Custer Recreation Area

The Fort Custer Recreation Area is located between Battle Creek and Augusta in Kalamazoo County off of Dickman Road. It is a State Park area that consists of three lakes, biking trails, hiking trails, horse riding trails, picnic areas, camping and a beach. During the winter the trails are used for cross country skiing and sledding.

This past weekend I decided to go hiking, and walked several of the trails over two days. The following is a photo I took:

: Fort Custer Recreation area was originally bought and developed as a training ground for troops in WWII, and later purchased by the State of Michigan.
